Thank you for sharing đź’
But here’s the thing—
In our culture, toxic has become a loaded word.
It can mean anything from abuse… to simply being told something we don’t like.
âš Culture often labels as toxic:
People who correct us
Friends who confront sin
Leaders who give constructive criticism
But is correction always toxic? Or is it sometimes… love?
đź“– Scripture tells a different story.
“Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but profuse are the kisses of an enemy.”
— Proverbs 27:6
Not everyone who confronts you is your enemy. Sometimes, their honesty is God’s mercy.
So, what actually makes a relationship truly toxic? According to Scripture:
Abuse of power (Ezekiel 34)
Malice, slander, envy (Colossians 3:8)
Unrepentant sin that corrodes community (1 Cor. 5)
That’s very different from someone simply disagreeing with you.
🌍 The world says:
“Toxic = anyone who challenges your comfort.”
âśť The Word says:
“Toxic = sin that destroys love, trust, and truth.”
Wisdom looks like:
Knowing when to receive correction humbly Knowing when to walk away from real harm
Letting Scripture, not culture, define our words
If we want clarity in a confusing culture, we must stay rooted in God’s Word.
