Question

Is Heaven Real?

Answer

When you begin your investigation about heaven, it doesn’t help much if you invest in a telescope for astrophotography or send out a request to NASA to do some private coverage. That would be like trying to measure the quantity of your favourite ice-cream with a metre scale. A good instrument, but the wrong category.

Many have made the mistake of assuming that God was there beyond the clouds. Heaven is not a geographical place in the intergalactic outer space.

The God of the Bible is Spirit and is outside the space-time universe.

As far as the claimants go, we have a credible witness about heaven. Jesus, who was killed 2000 years ago, came back to life, just as He told His disciples. They did not understand it when He told them, but eventually, they could put the pieces together.

In John 16: 28, we read Jesus saying: “I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.” In John 14: 2, 3 we find Jesus told His disciples, “I go prepare a place and will come back to take you to be with me”, and a few chapters later, He ends His prayer in John 17 by saying, “Father, I want those whom you have given Me to be with Me.” (v. 24). Heaven is getting ready for occupancy.

Is heaven real? Yes, in fact, it is more than just real. When you trust the Trust-worthy God, like Abraham, your experience might be similar: “…called to go to a place he (Abraham) would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. . . For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. (Heb 11: 8-10).
